Richard Grainger was born in Belfast and has worked as a binman, teacher, personal trainer, professional rugby coach, restaurateur, reluctant wedding planner, and journalist.
His first book, The Last latrine, is an account of his experiences in Nepal running the world’s highest marathon, which started close to Everest base camp.
Losing The Plot — the first in the Richie Malone series — was his debut novel, and he is currently working on the sequel, The List. 
His second novel, Saving Dave, was published in 2021 and tells the story of Dave — a highly intelligent eighteen-year-old who suffers from Locked-in syndrome, but is the only one to know this.
Richard divides his time between Marbella, where he mostly writes, and Wroclaw where he mostly enjoys Polish beer and teaches business English part-time.
