Simon Prior-Palmer

Simon Prior-Palmer read Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Christ Church Oxford, though History is his favourite subject, encompassing all of PPE.
He always had it in mind to write a biography of Erroll because, for reasons explained in the book, his achievements were so under-recognised. Mindful that a generation was departing, he interviewed the likes of Bill Deedes, who fought under Erroll, over 20 years ago.
He worked for 32 years in corporate finance for two household name US investment banks in London. In the early years he was a pioneer in the transition from parallel loans to matched currency and interest rate swaps, the foundation stones of the modern derivatives market, the world’s largest financial activity.
Leaving the financial world in 2005, he took up non-executive Director roles in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, including as a Trustee of Macmillan Cancer Support for almost 14 years.
He lives in London, closely following his wife Julia Lloyd George’s jewellery business, and on the border of Hampshire and Wiltshire. Unlike his sister, Lucinda Green, he has never ridden horses.
